What To Expect
Initial Consultation
Your dentist will examine the affected tooth, take X-rays to assess the extent of damage, and discuss treatment options. If a crown is recommended, we'll explain the process and answer any questions.
Crown Preparation (First Visit)
- Anesthesia: Local anesthesia is administered to ensure you're comfortable throughout the procedure.
- Tooth preparation: The tooth is reshaped to create space for the crown. Any decay is removed, and the tooth is cleaned.
- Impressions: Detailed impressions of your prepared tooth and surrounding teeth are taken to ensure a perfect fit and natural appearance.
- Temporary crown: A temporary crown is placed to protect your tooth while your permanent crown is being custom-made in a dental laboratory.
Crown Placement (Second Visit)
- Final fitting: Your dentist will check the fit, color, and bite of your permanent crown.
- Adjustments: Minor adjustments may be made to ensure optimal comfort and function.
- Permanent placement: Once everything is perfect, the crown is permanently cemented in place.
Types of Crown Materials
- Porcelain-fused-to-metal: Strong and durable with a natural appearance.

Aftercare
